YLDC provides high school students “real world” academic and community enrichment programs. Science, technology, math and art are the areas of engagement for the high school leaders. YLDC students work together and mentor younger students during extended day hours and Saturdays during the school year. Organic Community Gardens, Advanced Science and Math Tutoring, Media Project, Medical Internships and Urban Transcendence Poetry complete the weekday initiative. YLDC Manager, Ursula Carrillo provides evaluation data for each student through District#500 Silk Database coordinates transportation and offers program assistance in programming schedules and school contacts. The Storytellers Inc. Artist Collective provides 2 transportation vans for YLDC student transportation.
