Mini Society, sponsored by 4-H ASAP/Flint and Associates, Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, was brought to us as a developed program. Mini Society Facilitator and YLDC Apprentice Manager, Teri Tillman, shares the entrepreneurial curriculum with the YLDC students who become the facilitators of the Mini Society program. Each Mini Society must contain a minimum of thirty elementary or middle school students participate in the program. Students are challenged to create a country, flag, currency and marketable products to sell. YLDC students use positive talk, creative ideas and encouraging spirits to support the students in their individual teams. All of the materials for creating the products are paid for through the Kauffman Center. The Mini Society culminates with a grand scale International Day where all of the teams come together at one large site and set up the "Market Place". Student developed currency is used to buy products and the producers then use their new currency for the auction of valuable articles provided through community partners.
